I have started my course this month which is a huge achievement for me having been stagnant and unsure of my future direction for some time. I have completed the first two TMAs and got 100% and 97% respectively and have just submitted my third TMA. This is a massive achievement for me as I am so busy working and have also played several gigs with my band in the evenings and been rehearsing twice a week for an opera performance. I'm not actually sure how I've managed to fit studying in to all this but my personal determination has found a way and I have been rewarded with good results which have motivated me even further to suceed with my course. I HAVE COMPLETED TWO PARTS OF MY COURSE ALREADY WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE TO DEAL WITH AT HOME I DO FEEL THIS IS A SUPERB ACHIEVEMENT. I started my course at the begining of May and have now completed 4 TMA's and have in my opinion done very well.I am 59 and have never gone into the maintanance of a pc before and I think that I am learning a great deal. In April of this year, I applied for a new job with a Local Council for the position of Supervisor in a CCTV control room. Although I already held qualifications in management of CCTV, I decided to include the fact that I was studying for 3 I.T. related qualifications in the application. I have just had the worst news of all, the hospital put a camera down my throat and found a lump in my stomach which is cancer, this means that I have to go in to have it removed, they have said it is a straight forward operation but I have given enough blood to make my arms look like a dartboard, this on top of my back operations is enough to put anyone over the edge, but instead I have decided that I am going to move to the coast. Me and my wife went down yesterday and looked at 3 houses and I also made a visit to the job center and spoke to a lady in the center and inquired about work and to my amazement when I pass my A+ and N+ she said there is a load of jobs open to me and within 2 1/2 miles there was 5 computer shops and one of them said to come in for an interview when I am qualified, this has gave me the push I needed to complete the courses I am studying, this opportunity is down to skillstrain giving me the qualifications needed to better my life and my families, and I can take the dog for a walk on the coast, what a life to look forward to. HAVING ENROLLED FOR THIS COURSE AND BEING ACCEPTED,I WAS OVER THE MOON.I WANTED SOMETHING THAT WOULD RESCUE ME FROM THIS DEAD END JOB AS A WAREHOUSE EMPLOYEE,SOMETHING HANDS-ON,BEING A PARENT WITH TWO KIDS AND A WIFE ON A FULLTIME DAY JOB MEANT I HAVE TO JUGGLE THE SCHOOL RUN,FEEDING AS WELL AS MY STUDYING AFTER A HARD DAYS WORK AT THE WAREHOUSE FROM 6AM TO 2.30PM.SOMETIMES ITS SO EXHAUSTING THAT I MISS MY INTENDED TARGET ON MY ASSIGNMENTS.I'M STILL STRUGGLING AND HOPEFULLY I'M GOING TO BEAT THIS AND FINISH MY COURSE. I have just completed, successfully, the A+ content of my couse and have applied to take the public exam. At the age of 55 and having suffered 3 strokes, it has, to say the least been a challenge. It has, however, been very rewarding. I have become a volunteer home visitor for the RNIB, helping clients with their computer problems, at the same time gaining what I hope is invaluable practical experience. July of 2006, I arrived in the UK. Coming from a mining background and considering the fact that mining is almost non-existent in England, I wondered what job/course I would undertake to match with my mining skills. Meanwhile, I was later to find a part-time job in a Food Factory and this would help me pay towards my course. Since I started the Skill train course, I have successfully managed to complete Comptia Net+ course and Examination, although I have been under lot of pressure in my normal work with dead line to meet and taking site visit. At moment I am now also working toward ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualification Board) foundation examination and carrying on with my CCNA course. Hence for me it is all the way up hill doing my normal work and keeping my course work on target and learning new things. I started Network+ with Skills Train and I have had tremendous result. I did not know anything about N+, but now I can design network infrastructure, connect more than 50 PC to communicate with each other. I can configure RAP and many more network Protocols. Thanks to the Skillful trained Tutors of the Skills Train. I am now on the CCNA course with the SKILLS TRAIN. I use Windows 2000 on a daily basis and I am finding this course extremely helpfull in making sure that I can not only maximise my own benefits of the Microsoft Windows systems but also for the people I support, making my job not only easier but also making me feel like I can constantly accomplish more and achieve even greater levels of professionalism in the support I offer. Thank you. As my first language is not English, I feel very proud of myself for the work I have already completed, its only 2 assignments but I have acheived 90% both times and am very proud. I knew not a lot about IT before I started this course, but hope to succeed and become succesfull in working within the IT industry. I've always been a slow learner, and for some reason, never been able to understand or catch up with my education. After leaving school due to severe social anxiety disorder, I thought a career would be impossible to achieve. I've studied really hard with skills train and already I find myself learning more in a few months than I've learnt in my 12 years at school. This is an amazing achievement for me.
