I am self employed gardener at present time, it is something that I enjoy doing, I also have a great interest in computers. also I am at present time tracing my family tree.

This course is brilliant in that it can help me eventually carry out work alongside my gardening business, by being able to offer potential customers a second service, I have so far sent 4 TMAs to be marked and have passed them all.

Eventually I would like to design gardens so I intend to gain has much knowledge has possible about computers.

I feel in my own mind that ever since I started doing the A+/N+ I have learned a great deal more about computers than I ever did before, I used to get confused on building PC's but now I'm upgrading hardware for my entire family and also building my very first computer for self use. I am also hoping to make a business out of building computers in the future!

Also my family members are VERY pleased with my assignment marks so far.

For gaining exceptional scores on my TMA's while working in a supermarket, having a second job as a make-up artist, and still creating our supermarket's monthly newsletter which takes some time to put together by researching and sourcing content. And then still finding time to study as well as following other additional video tutorials to help me on my course. All this before I sit down for dinner at night.

I applied myself very well this month and was quite focused on getting this section done. I achieved 100 per-cent on each of the first four modules. I had to resubmit the first one, but was pleased that I after going over the material again, I understood where I went wrong. This is the part of the course I have been most looking forward to, and the practices that we were shown in the planning and implementation stages, both confirmed and enlightened me on the various elements I faced when working for my first client. I am proud of the work I achieved on the site, and hope to make a few tweaks here and there to ensure it complies with W3C standards for code. Before I started this course I had only a small amount of knowledge in graphic design and knew absolutely nothing about the technical side of building websites. Once I had begun the course I found it very difficult to ask for help when I was struggling as I felt ashamed to show weakness. This time last year I had so little confidence and could not envisage entering the SkillsTrain 2007 ICT Competition. I felt that I had not gained enough skills to create anything which would be deemed good enough. Although now I look back and regret that I did not even attempt to enter in order to develop my skills.

I must say this year although I have found some lessons quite difficult to understand first time, I have been able to swallow my pride and ask for the help I need in order to progress. JavaScript has especially been challenging, one small mistake can have a huge impact on the outcome. However challenging, I am really looking forward to completing this section as it will be a huge achievement and a great skill to possess.

Even though I still have a long way to go I think I have learnt so much already, which has been a massive confidence boost. I feel very excited about this years ICT Competition and have been checking back regularly in anticipation. I have realized that whatever my skill level I should take this opportunity as a challenge, as the best way to advance in something is in practice. This is a positive thing when it comes to showing prospective employers or clients, which is something I will be looking to do in the short term future.

I would like to specially thank Skills Train for your continued help and support so far. You have truly been an inspiration to me and I am very grateful for everything I have been taught to date, and the further knowledge and skills to come.

I am grateful for my £200 voucher for PC World for a 2nd place in last months competition. This prize gave me much more encouragement to continue with the course, notwithstanding the difficulties. I received the news of this prize while I was on a temporal assignment in a warehouse in Castle Vale, Birmingham. I was really elated that I had to announce the news to my colleagues and supervisors who showed open surprise at my sudden change in countenance after receiving the phone call that announced the prize to me. When I told them why I became suddenly so happy, They all congratulated me, and wished me well. Some, including my supervisor asked many questions to get more information about my course. I willingly gave them this information. By the end of the day, I noticed their attitude towards me had changed. I was regarded with more importance. By the close of the day my work period was prolonged. I now enjoy a more cordial relationship with my supervisor and the manager. I am called up to work more often and whenever the opportunity is there. I have been requested to give a helping hand at office work a couple of times. I look froward to use this opportunity to change my status from a general temporal worker to an IT assistant.
I am also grateful for the study materials and My Student World that offer me the opportunity to enhance my IT skills. They greatly facilitate my study and enhance my knowledge. Last week my PC was infected with a virus and malware. I found lesson 7 on internet security very useful in giving me the required information and understanding on how to resolve this problem. I was obliged to study parts of that lesson to enable me understand what was happening. Now with some knowledge of the problem, I was able to use my voucher to obtain an update of the anti-malware and anti-virus to partially resolve the problem. This has enabled me to access my files once more, and most importantly complete lesson 4, enter Student World, complete and forward TMA03, and to relate these achievements.
As mentioned earlier, I faced a huge problem during all of last week to access my computer files because of the virus. I was almost discouraged that for over four days, I could not do any work on the computer and internet. This course gave me the leverage to partially address this problem. I am certain that with more patience and study, I should solve the problem completely soon. This make me even more eager to progress on the course because I have saved spending much
through the knowledge acquired from this course. In effect, this course is beneficial to me on many fronts; at my work place and at home. I look forward to extending these achievements to my benefit. I am sure anyone could do same with the interest and patience.
